2009 International Metal Art Exhibition Inaugurated in Tsinghua University
 
The 2009 International Metal Art Exhibition & Seminar inaugurated in Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University on the morning of March 16th 2009. The Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University, Tokyo University of the Arts and College of Fine Arts of Seoul National University cooperate together for this exhibition. Focusing on the topic of Communication & Trends, the exhibition is dedicated to discussing new waves and ideas in academic metal art practice, research and education and it also creates a chance to foster dialogue between different art colleges and institutions.
 
131 artists from China, Japan, Korea, Norway and Belgium join the exhibition. The 142 pieces of exhibited works are classified into three categories, Metal Ware, Metal Jewelry and Metal Art Object. All these marvelous works show new trends in skill, material and ideas of contemporary academic metal art. The exhibition jury committee, consists of thirteen experts from above five countries granted 3 golden awards, 5 silver awards, 10 copper awards and 20 excellence awards to 38 artists with 38 pieces of works in total.
 
During the exhibition five lectures were held by Iino Ichiro from Japan, Seo Do Sik from Korea, Ingjerd Hanevold from Norway, David Huycke from Belgium and Tang Xuxiang from China. Several short-term workshops were also held in the Metal Art Laboratory of Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University, so that artists from different countries could communicate and discuss the procedure and skill of the metal art.
